US Files Rally After Ukraine Strikes Hit US-Tied Oil Infrastructure
“We have been hearing that Ukrainian attacks on Novorossiysk affected some of the American investments which are being performed through Kazakhstan,” Stefanishina told CNN, noting that the demarche was prompted by the impact on US economic interests.
Kyiv has acknowledged that targeting Moscow’s oil exports is a strategic priority, even when it affects third-party investments. The strikes have also sparked tensions with Hungary and Slovakia, which accused Ukraine of politically motivated restrictions on Russian crude via the Druzhba pipeline. In retaliation, both countries have suspended diesel deliveries to Ukraine, with Slovakia freezing emergency electricity supplies and Hungary blocking the EU’s €90 billion aid borrowing plan.
Kazakhstan also criticized Ukraine over the attacks, while Russia reported that multiple strikes on CPC infrastructure have continued following the initial Novorossiysk incident.
