Venezuela hits its goal of producing barrels of crude oil this year

(MENAFN) Venezuela has successfully reached its target of producing 1.2 million barrels of crude oil per day this year, despite increasing pressure from the United States and recent tanker seizures, according to Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

Rodriguez stated on Telegram that employees at the state-owned oil company PDVSA achieved the milestone under the Productive Independence Plan and are now preparing to further increase output to meet the country’s 2026 production goals. She described the accomplishment as “the best Christmas gift for Venezuelans” and credited oil workers for overcoming what she called “harassment, hostility, and imperialist illegality that attacks and violates the human rights of Venezuelans.”

"Nothing and no one will stop us," Rodriguez said, affirming ongoing support for President Nicolas Maduro.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions with Washington, where US forces have recently seized Venezuelan-linked oil tankers, including the Panama-flagged Centuries on Saturday and the Skipper on December 10, with reports indicating a third vessel may be targeted. US President Donald Trump declared a "total and complete blockade" on sanctioned tankers entering or leaving Venezuela, labeling Maduro’s government a "foreign terrorist organization."

Venezuelan authorities have denounced these actions as “international piracy.” While the United States maintains that the measures are intended to combat corruption and drug trafficking, Caracas accuses Washington of using anti-narcotics enforcement as a pretext to oust Maduro and gain control over the country’s oil resources.
